The Rules

Since most good things have rules, so will this challenge:

  • Each one of us will be responsible for a date every other week, starting Jan 5th, 2015.
  • The date has to occur between Monday and Sunday of each week.
  • Date must be at least one hour long.
  • The weekly date must be just the two of us.  Double dates and/or group nights out DO NOT count.
  • Coin toss at midnight on New Years Eve determines who goes first.
    • Jason lost the coin toss; Kim opted for week 2.  Jason goes first!
  • Date must be creative - cannot be a normal occurrence (normal dinner at home, Netflix, etc. will not count).
  • Date must be intentional (even on vacation).
  • Whoever is taken on the date must write the weekly blog post (ex. Jason plans week 1 date, Kim writes the blog post)
  • For dates at home: the date planner must be responsible for all clean up (the datee may help if desired)
  • Each date will include one prayer or scripture reading together.
  • Challenge will end after the 52nd date and blog post.
  • The dator cannot replicate a previous date from the challenge; however, the date may be a replication of dates prior to the challenge.
  • If the week passes and one of us fails to plan a date according to the above rules, there will be a penalty!  The dator will become responsible for planning the next date as well as taking care of all the dishes during the ENTIRE week.  Dishes must be cleaned daily, and must be completely washed and put away before the other spouse can help (no running a dishwasher Sunday night and expecting spouse to empty the dishwasher the next day!  Sounds like a good time to do some serious cooking and baking.)
